The mission of Serve Day is to love our neighbors and make a difference in our city! We are partnering with the city of Galt, a local school and the Sacramento Food Bank to do just that! On November 23rd, we will connect with our community, serve our city, and spread the love of Christ.

SERVE DAY OPPORTUNITIES

VALLEY OAKS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PAINTING

This school is our oldest in the district, so it requires some updates. We hope to create a place in which the children of our community love to learn and are proud of their school. Our work will include the painting of doors, handrails, and storage units. 

 

AGE LIMIT: None

WORK LOAD: Medium

LABOR DESCRIPTION: Must be able to bend down, reach, and stand for necessary periods of time. Painting experience not required.

TIME: 9 AM - 12 PM

WALKER PARK BEAUTIFICATION

Parks in our community, due to recent budget difficulties, require additional care to provide a safe place for connection and enjoyment. Clean the park by sanitizing tables and playground equipment, picking up trash, and adding mulch to flower beds. 

 

AGE LIMIT: None. Child friendly

WORK LOAD: Light to Medium

LABOR DESCRIPTION: Work includes sanitizing tables and playground equipment as well as various landscaping activities.

TIME: 9 AM - 12 PM

COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING MEALS SET-UP

Many families in our community are not able to purchase Thanksgiving meals due to financial limitations. In partnership with Sacramento Food Bank, we will receive and set-up, so that we can distribute food to make a Thanksgiving meal and winter coats. This team will receive the food deliveries and set up the food and coats for distribution.

AGE LIMIT: None

WORK LOAD: Medium

LABOR DESCRIPTION: The ideal volunteer is able to pick up and move heavy turkeys, boxes, and is able to stand for long periods of time. 

TIME: 9 AM - 12 PM

POLICE OFFICERS THANKSGIVING MEAL

First responders are vital to the care of our community, and we must bless those who care for us so well. We have the opportunity to serve our police officers and dispatchers a Thanksgiving meal. The volunteer team will be making a dish in their home(s) and meeting at the Police Department to deliver the meal and present it to the officers.

 

AGE LIMIT: 18+

WORK LOAD: Light

LABOR DESCRIPTION:  The ideal volunteer for this activity loves to cook and has a talent for it. 

TIME: 12 -12:30 PM

COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING MEALS DISTRIBUTION

Many families in our community are not able to purchase Thanksgiving meals due to financial limitations. In partnership with Sacramento Food Bank, we will distribute food to make a Thanksgiving meal and winter coats. This team will distribute the items to families in our community. 

 

AGE LIMIT: None

WORK LOAD: Light to Medium

LABOR DESCRIPTION:  The ideal volunteer should be able to stand for long periods of time (Accomodations can be made if necessary)

TIME: 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM
